Great Time To Fish
MAY Overview- MAY is a top month for flyfishing for trout in Virginia. Water temps in the mid 50's to lower 60's mean high comfort and energy for the Rainbow, Brown and Brook trout . Throw in high insect prescence and ideal flows are ideal for catching them and you have the perfect time of year. Caddis, Mayfly and Stonewal patterns are super this month.Anytime you can look like a minnow this month will always work especially for the trophy trout. Blue quill, caddis larva and adult black , olive & tan caddis. are good on the native Brookie streams and larger rivers. All of the public Special reg streams and Delayed Harvest streams have good numbers of trout this month also.
